Made To Last

Caves & Cathedrals: We Were Made to Make

Episode Summary

In the Season Four premiere of Made to Last, Jake and Hannah explore why we were made to create, cultivate, and build things that endure. Together, they ask what it means to put your passion to work and intentionally build something lasting with the life you’ve been given.

Episode Notes

Why do we make—and why does it matter? In the Season Four premiere of Made to Last, Jake and Hannah explore the deeply human instinct to create, cultivate, build, and leave something meaningful behind. Inspired by the opening chapter of Jake’s new book, Heart of the Maker, they unpack why creativity isn’t reserved for professional artists, how Jake came to understand his own creativity as a calling, and the difference between making for recognition and making from conviction. They also explore what it means to “build cathedrals in a sandcastle culture” and how that philosophy has shaped their marriage, family, businesses, home, and the life they’re building together. This conversation introduces the question at the heart of the season: What are you making with the life you’ve been given? And in the first Put It to Work challenge, Jake and Hannah invite you to identify what’s holding you back from creating—and consider where in your life you’re already building something that could last.
